Default Re: Northeast blizzard

I remember racing in the summer of '78, at a track in Tyler, Texas, called I-20 Dragway. Some days it was well over 100 degrees. I remember us making a time trial, then sitting in the crew cab with the AC on, til time for the next pass. Sometimes we'd hear over the local radio, that it was still 100 degrees or more at 6pm. How many of you guys remember the 5-amber tree ? You can see one in the 1st pic below.

One night that summer, at an IHRA points race, we kept doing everything we could to cool TJ's '68 Bird between rounds. We used ice and garden sprayers, and pushed it all the way from the pits to the front of the staging lanes, every round. But it was worth all the trouble and sweat. TJ won the race from the bump spot in a 16 car field, and got a little ink in the "Drag Review" !
