In 1965 when Chrysler was boycotting Nascar both Petty and Pearson were sent drag racing. Petty crashed at Dallas Ga and hit a young man standing by the fence. I believe that the kid was about 9 or 10 years old. Petty buried the car behind the shop and built a new car he raced until the boycott was lifted later in the year.
