Cannot remember the Par system. I bought my first official stocker in 1969 and always raced on the National records. Hard in the midwest to win on a California or Jersey National Record. Really fun because NO one could so we all were in the same boat and some days you out drove them.
I agree the current system is a "part of the scam". The others are the factoring system and the structure which allows a class for everyone instead of everyone racing a class.
Example of this is local National events allowing 80 entries and Hundreds of classes. Result no need for class only bracket racing. No need to tech because its only a dial in race if you are too busy. Added issue is developments by hi tech companies. Ever expanding rules in supposed limited class, S and SS. The Comp tech reachs these and presto HI BUCK Motors, Trans, and Cars. Result gone are the locally successful racers on a budget...
