Had this same problem with my quick time bell. I removed the locknut under the adjustable pivot ball so as to move the ball back more. This allows the clip on the fork to fit on the ball. Than welded the ball to the threaded collar. Hope that makes sense!

Also what wheels are on your car? Seen them just did not know who makes them.
