Default Lil IHRA classification help please!! Newbie Alert!

Hi guys. Very long time lurker but very new to S/SS racing. Here is what I have. Got my two little buddies racing JR's and we are/have been loving it. Problem is my 15yo is outgrowing them rapidly so I'm looking to get him something lined up in a big car. I don't want to go the big dragster route. I want to start him out in a footbrake car that I can let him beat up all weekend yet still run the divisionals when we travel. We are primarily an IHRA family. I also want to get into something we can gradually build into a higher class car as he saves/earns parts and pieces and hopefully get him a nuts and bolts lesson at the same time. Im waiting to take delivery on a 93 Z28 that is currently a very basic almost stock footbrake car. I want to turn it into an IHRA purestocker and eventually make it a crate motor car.

Here is where my question begins. I have tried to figure out which class it will fit in and I cant find the IHRA classification guide. I used the NHRA classification guide and it looks like it will fit into either D/PS or E/PS(???). I found 275 hp and a shipping weight of 3234 lbs (auto/coupe). The NHRA sheet is confusing to me tho, is the factored HP 346? And the class break is 9.35 (so C/SA?)? So at 346 HP the min weight will be 3114 (346 hp x 9.0) plus 170 for 3284lbs for an NHRA/IHRA legal car??

My main question is how does this pertain to the IHRA pure stock classes? If I follow this using the NHRA factored HP it would fit into B/PS but that doesn't seem right. I've seen some others running similar combos in D,E, or even F/PS. If I use the factory 275 it fits into either D or E. I spoke to a local this weekend with a vette with an LT1 that runs E. HELLLPPP!! LOL!

Thanks in advance!

PS I assume its similar in Crate Motor? Advertised crate HP x whichever class weight break you choose + 170 lbs??
