There used to be Divisional races that had T/F all the way down to Stock, now they call them National events. So what happened to the true National events (Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall, plus Indy?) They are now gone and there is only a circus coming to town. NHRA allowed all the catagories to get out of hand, for example, there used to be at least 40 Pro Stocks cars at a race, now maybe get a full field. Pro Stock was basically a back halfed factory built car with a tunnel ram motor in it. Now they are funny cars with doors. NHRA took out the people who wanted to race but now can't afford to field a car.
Think about it $100k stocker? What is NHRA thinking?
Just a thought!

You are right on alot of things you said.
Pro/S is way out of hand when you only have about 8-10 cars that are really competitive. When big names like Warren & Kurt Johnson are not racing because
of funding, along with other names that dropped out years ago like Mark Pawuk.
It is a real shame.
100K stockers, totally insane.
I bought a record holding Super Stocker back in 1974 for $4500. of course SS back
then wasn't even like Stock today.
Of course you do have to change with the times & safety should always be a #1 priority.
So if that entails Stockers to have wheelie bars, disc brakes, aftermarket seats, ect.
Of course a parachutte is pushing it a bit on a stocker.
When the new cars came out, they were sent right to Stock Elim., i think so the avgerage Joe can relate to something that looks like a Mustang, Challenger or Camaro.
When these cars run in Pro/S you cannot tell what they are.
I thought years ago when the fuel inj. motors first came out the Pro/Stockers were
supposed to run them instead of carbs, guess that didn't materialize.
I for One would not want Top Fuel at a Divisional.
