Default Re: winning

Two years ago, I talked to a father-son team that was at one of my S/SS races. The dad was R/U at a Nat'l event 6-7 years ago, and got over eleven grand ($11,000) then. His son WON a Nat'l that year, and got barely over thirteen thousand ($13,000). Contingency generally pays 3 to 1, Win over R/U. Dan Fletcher said earlier this year that not long ago, he got 18-19 grand for a Nat'l win; now he's lucky to get 13. Thank the Lord for contingency (if you can ACTUALLY get your money), because the base purse sucks. $1,800 for winning Indy. INDY! You'd think a race that size would have a much bigger payout to win. I do a S/SS race in Hagerstown that annually pays $2,000 to win, and this year could actually pay $2,500 to $3,000 to win.
