Default Re: Houston Sportsman cancelled

Other than crashing your entry, blowing it up, having a medical issue, or having to leave due to something happening back at home...this has got to be the worst luck while at the races. I had it happen to me in 96 or 97 in Columbus. But they did'nt cancel till Sunday. Had to have the tractor pull the truck out, then go back and pull the trailer out. The mud was turning up on the tires like a farmer turning up a field with a disc. I know how the racers monitor the weather. But, I wonder what would happen if a racer(s) saw the weather in advance, and decided to leave the track for higher ground so to speak. Could he then just come back in, since he had all of his crudentials? He may not get his same spot back, but then again he might. If it got bad where he was, he may get a better (dryer) spot. The biggest problem would be getting those rigs out from a very tight formation. I always said that they should arrange the parking in a diagonal position, instead of straight in. This would allow easier egress and would provide a swift evacuation if needed. Getting your rig out to avoid a water situation is one thing....getting it out due to a fire close by is another!
