Flooded Pits Scramble Schedule Again

The Only Thing Certain Is That It's Uncertain

BAYTOWN, Texas - 7:25 a.m. The good news is that the torrential downpour yesterday evening used up so much energy that the atmosphere is very calm today and we are unlikely to see more than a sprinkle or two today.
Right now, there are thin clouds overhead and west of here, where the monsoon came from yesterday, are clear, blue skies today.

The bad news is that between 3.5 and 6 inches of rain fell in a short time yesterday, heavy even by Houston standards, and the unpaved pit areas are flooded.

Race officials are still evaluating the situation for those cars parked "beyond the blacktop," but it is unlikely that the Sportsman competitors (except Pro Mod, Top Alcohol and maybe Competition Eliminator) will be able to get to the staging lanes until later today, if at all. To bad for all the sportsman racers, I have been there when it rained and it is not pretty getting drug out of that soup hole. Tom
