I spent all day Thursday testing at MIR with my long time very good friend Allan Stanfield, Howard's brother. Just a bunch of old farts working on the cars and enjoying each others company. Our conversations covered just about everything including Howards failing health. Little did we know we would awake to the sad news of his passing. I first met Howard in Texas at the Chief Auto Parts Nats. around 1990. Allan had told him I was coming and he looked me up and we had a long pleasant and funny conversation, the funny part was about Allan
Even though I had just met him he had a warm and friendly way about him that made me feel like I had known him for years. With that kind of personality it is no wonder he had the admiration and respect from all of his family friends. Condolences to my good friend Allen and all of Howards family.
