I would try what Keith was talking about first. I leave at 4000-4200 on a 5400 stall and 1.76 first gear, stock suspension 2950# car with a popcorn motor and run 25-40 numbers to keep it green. Your car may just need that little extra distance to clear the beams with the stock suspension. I don't go on the stop until 1.50, I'm so slow the little extra mph is not important to me.
