I've been to 12 tracks, raced at 5 .

Has anyone raced at Williamson New York. Was Apple Valley when I visited.
3 dollars to watch or race. got there to late with my daily driver 71 GTO to race so watched in I think 1992.
2/10 mile side of an oval w a big dip in left lane in the 60 ft..
go between what appears 2 tight walls at the finish.
I hope to race Empire Dragway finally to race in front of and for my family. Took them to spectate 1990-2001 IHRA Empire Nats every year, even in the rain, lol. In 2001 stuck around after w 1 of my neices to walk the starting line. Met Mr. Bill Bader on starting line after the race and he took the hat off his head and gave it to her. It was very hot out and he escorted us to a table w food, fruit etc. and let us each eat a lil meal. That man was one class act. Neice still has the hat,and I have the pics, she's in college for engineering now.

James Perrone. hope to see you at Riverhead 100 ft. drags, we still need a track.

Chris.
I haven't been to many tracks but I did race in Williamson,NY...it was called Spencer Speedway at the time...(late '80's)...and did pretty good...I runner-up'd in a bracket elim...running mid 7's...on the 1/10th mile straightaway(not very fast)...think it paid $50...I remember shutting down...into the turn...and then onto a dirt road...off the oval....no big deal....

Visited Long Island (or Hampton Raceway) around 1989...on a Sunday...and went there just after it was closed for good...(dirtpiles at the entrance). I walked the entire facility on that last trip...noting the upgrades that had been made...also the go-cart? track to the right of the shutdown area...It was a shame to see it go....Last active strip on the Island...and possibly the FIRST one that was built out there...The first visit...on a warm, muggy day,I recall the place had sort of an "outlaw" feeling...at least compared to the other tracks in PA and NJ...but the action was hot and safe....I noticed the "war-surplus" tower...which wasn't there later I think.....

Wish I had the chance to see some of the other tracks back in the day...like NY National, Islip, Vargo, or Dover...but didn't travel too far back then....
