I've long considered the "accident of proximity" a poor yardstick for geographic divisions. Just because someone lives in Div. 2 doesn't mean that they're close to more than one LODRS located in that Division, and then you're also locking people into a fairly strict schedule. The primary reason for having Divisions is just for folks that don't want to travel as much, but if you're going to "fix" a points system to make travel less of a burden, then can the idea of "Divisions" entirely, add the awards and funds to the national chase, and make all LODRS wildcards. Go to the (however many) races that are close for YOU, and/or fit YOUR schedule.

No, I'm not advocating the sweeping change. Just enjoying the mental gymnastics.
