Yes, I run D6 races, I'll probably run SC this next year. In D6, the TD fields weren't even full this year, so you could probably make those with almost anything. But to be competitive...? I've debated which to run myself. You haven't said what division you're in, but in 6, I have a bunch of stats about this past year in SC and TD, and would be happy to share.
Jeff is very right, I would focus on SC and/or SP to get my feet wet, if I were you.
