Steve Thompson's cobalt broke a lifter on the starting line Sat. first qualifying attempt. The track seemed a whole lot better Sat. then it was Fri. night. Tell me if I'm wrong. Fri. night, with only a 1.33 60. ft. he ran 9.34 at 148. The next morning we found a huge glob of black something in the back fuel bowl of second carb. fixed it and then broke the lifter. Steve said the car was surging in and out, all the way down the track Fri. night.. It only ran a 6.33 1\8th on that pass, and a 1.38 60. Sat. morning and still ran almost 140. It normally goes 1.27 1.28. Oh well, always next year.
