I would recommend an 8" convertor, about 5500rpm - 5800rpm. You will get a much harder hit with the 8" than the 9"...that's been my experience. I had a 496, now have a 572...had the 8" behind both and the 9" behind both. With the 8 inch I carry twice as much in the throttle stop as I do with the 9"because it is quicker in the first few hundred feet ....also, the wheels are up a foot with the 8" and only about 4" with the nine inch.

Just my experience....as far as convertors go...everyone has a preference. My 8 inch is a TCI and the 9" is a Coan....the combo is more important than the make....most preferences are due to people getting the right or wrong convertor to begin with.....Hughes makes a great convertor too, just a little pricey.
