I don't remember what the index was then but that qualified us #6 in the field. That was with a 4 year old B/ED 360 c.i. Buick with one dominator and a manual 4 speed. The problem is the speed differential with most of the other cars in Super Stock. You are closing on them so fast at the finish line that it's difficult to judge your position. You have to dial so that you can't break out and run it out the back every time. I don't like driving like that. I prefer to dial 1 or 2 soft to give me some options. In addition, the power to weight ratio in that class means that you have to be right on the money in the bellhousing to be consistent. In comp you have time to service the clutch between rounds to make the car repeat. Not so in SS. In addition, lane choice can quickly become an issue. By the Springnationals that year I decided to move to A/SM in comp. Best move I ever made.
I don't know Scott very well.I met him at Atco in 2006.We were parked next to each other
in tech for record tear down.I spoke to him at that time.
I was at the Grove when he went in the 7s.
I can't say for sure but now that he's the quickest all time and first N/A Super stocker in the 7s he has the option of backing the car down to make it more round friendly. But I think
by watching him run since '06 that his main focus is to go as fast as he can.
I would have thought that Paul Ricci was going to run the first 7 in SS/AM.
