Re: Noble revised schedule
Tech is still open.
Knew it was coming?
If the racing organizations cancelled races based on forecasts, we'd never get 50% of them in. I've been announcing races for over 20 years (damn, that long?) and have announced many a race that called for rain all weekend and never saw a drop. I've also seen races cancelled where the forecast called for spectacular weather.
I've announced every D4 race held @ Noble and have watched it rain all around us yet we got the race in. I've also been frozen and roasted here too.
The forecast called for this front to hit yesterday and be gone by this morning, who knew it was going to stall out the way it did. Even the local evening news forecast last night called for everything to be "past" us and into eastern/south-eastern Oklahoma by mid-day.
Hindsight is always 20-20 but when the races at the end of the season are stacked the way they are/were (Reynolds/Noble/Vegas/Vegas/Pomona) there isn't much choice other than to soldier on and adapt as necessary.
I wish every racer could see what actually goes on behind the scenes in making these adaptive decisions. I think many would be surprised at the thought process and discussions that occur. It's a no win situation, and you're damned if you do and damned if you don't.
My stocker is at the track and will go home with me tomorrow night, the "real" job demands that I'm at work on Monday, trust me, I'd much rather stay and race!
that's my .02
