If it's a flat tappet, get a hold of me as my shop has coatings to the cam and lifters. They have completed R&D and will soon be released. You can have race springs installed (460#'s +) and start the engine up and let it idle. No break in, no spring changes required. Applied to your parts or custom built from the shop. Jeff, you still need good racing oil with plently of zink if it has much valve spring. I made the mistake of trying to break mine in on Valvoline in the silver bottle (says "racing oil", but it aint), and kept buring the ends off my intake pushrods, until somebody clued me in to the dark gray bottle. That one has "Not legal for street use" on the bottle in big letters. Comp was out of that additive at that time. Never had any problems with Mobile1 and that additive. Had good luck with Royal Purple also.
