Very well said Jerry, I for nearly a year made other plans for this season, I quite frankly NEVER thought it would actually happen, the Old Man had "faith" ... I did not.
The cars arent even close to the original "spec" as we have all seen, the list of this and that change 100% over the course of 2 years. NONE of that mattered to the Old Man, he wanted one....it wouldnt have mattered if it was a Comp car to him, it wouldnt have mattered if it had to run in PSM and had no chance....
The HP Ratings were a LATE development in the course of the DP and its not like we ((and I mean ALL dp teams) havent had their share of spec and legality issues, pistons, etc....
BUT It is what it is.....I would have done a TFFC , yes really.....BUT I am happy and PROUD to be able to do this with my father, I cannot express how much. A lifetime dream realized, WE did it OURSELVES....and well well land where we do, that is no matter.
The funny thing is all the people who complain , bitch, are angry whatever dont realize that probably NONE of the DP teams even CARE what class or rating we have or where we have to run, the "Drag Pak" iteself is the prize........
I can say I know 2 owners who were original Max wedge and AFX guys, THEY dont even care...and they will run their cars tounge hanging out. For them its 63-68 all over again. For me to be a part of history is more than enough,
Tommorow if the car was banned and was relegated to a Bracket bomber would I be happy, no, would it change what we do and why we do it , not in the least.........

As being part of a DP team, do I personally feel the car should have been born a Super Stocker? Part of me says yes, the other part says no. Yes, because I feel the same as other's that in order to be considered a true stocker, it should have a VIN and had been driven off the lot. No, because the car was approved for Stock class.
Either way we're just happy to own one and after a month debating whether to build a stock or super stocker, we decided to build a stocker. We're just playing the hand that was dealt to us.
