I have had 2 4-links and never drove a hardtail. I recall watching hardtails bouncing off the track trying to stop at one track I race at and always said I'd never drive one because of that. Suspended cars are the only way to go. Some people favor the swingarm or x-link bottom arrangement as it eliminates the wishbone track locator. Stopping and top end stability is considered better with the x or swingarm and is one less item to worry about failing......If I was getting a new car I would talk with some car builders about what they think and the feedback they get from racers using their cars. My conventional 4-link is a RaceTech and does not do anything that makes me want to change it.....The owner of Race Tech did tell me the x-link was a good option for top end braking stability....
