Smile New To The Forum

Hi Folks,

I'm also new to the forum, though not new to bracket racing. My first trip down the 1/4 mile was a white-knuckled, knee-knocking ride. This was after a rain delay, and the strip was still damp. I ran a less than impressive tire-spinning 19 second time in my 68 Plymouth Barracuda 340-S Fastback 4-speed car but, I was hooked.

Shortly thereafter, I was able to get it to run as quick as 14.0 and over the next few years, continued to improve the performance. Eventually, with the expert machinework of Gaines Markely (RIP) and L.D. 'Dennis' Smythe, I was able to get it to run as quick as 11.34 @ 118. You might think that a stick would be inconsistent but I found that not to be the case. My driving still mostly sucks (I think I've found just about every way to lose) but I started to win a round now and then!

Due to clutch-itis and other concerns, I haven't been to the strip in several years. I hope to fix that before I die.
