Default Re: Fastest SS/AS car in the country

All setting a record means is that one one day at one track, you were the fastest. It doesn't really prove anything. I'd put more emphasis on a Class Winner at Indy than I would a record holder. I set three IHRA Nat'l Records in 2004. But who is to say if Harry Morgan or Brian Olson's car had been there, they could have been faster than me? Say if I build a SS/AH car (yeah, I know, fantasy world) and the record is a minimum and I set it at a 8.80. If Charlie, Bucky, Daniels, Pancake etc aren't there, what did I prove? Nothing. And if they ARE there and are running 8.60's and choose not to go for the record and I set it at 8.80, am I still "the fastest"? Certainly not. The only way to prove who's fastest is to have everyone there, same track, same day, and run 'em off.
