Well ,,, as most of you know ,, my Indy outing wasn't without some Major Drama !!
This car with the Big Block has been fighting me all year ,,
My Buddy had to work Thursday night so we didn't leave home utill 4:00 AM ,,,,pu;;ed into track at about 10:00 Just in time to MISS first time trial for Super Gas ,,,,,, Un loaded car and cracked front end ,,,,
Got out fiberglass (not the first time this has happen ) fix front end , went through Tech , and set car up to run ,,, didn't change any numbers to see if car would repeat it self (coming from Quaker we figured car shoild run 10.000 ) ---- Car ran a 10.001 ,,,,,, feeling pretty good , head is getting big ,, things goin pretty good ( so I thought ) .
2nd Pass set car up to run a 9.92/9.93 , Did a good burn out , decent light , car on a nice pass , straight as an arrow , not moving around etc...... Hit the stripe with a 9.93 @ 168.9 MPH
------- Used the whole track slowed down to about 15/20 MPH made the turn and POP ,, Front strut spindle broke !@##%^%
Thank God it didn't break on the run and I was able to stop immed. without doing too much damage , on 3 wheels ! --- With a lot of help form my fellow racers we were able to get the 3 wheeler loaded and tied down .
Chasis shop opend up yesterday to get me in and we are presently putting on some new Strange , struts , brakes etc ,,,,,,,of course my spindle mount wheels won't work so ,, along with the struts , I had to get new wheels and tires (messed up one of the tires also )-- Driving to Summit tonight ,,,,,,, so I know everyone on this board knows what new struts , brakes , mounting / welding , wheels tires cost but I want to play so I'll have to pay and considering what happen,,, I considered myslef a blessed person !!
Thanks for all the calls and inquries ,,it is amazing how tight and caring the racing community is .
I probally won't make St. Louis ,,, but I'm not done ,,,, maybe broke but not finish .
