I run a bracket car and charged every chance I had.(no alt) first thing when the car came out of the trailer and between each round. still had problems with my battery dying, replaced it, them changed to a different one altogether. Looked at the color tops and spoke to some fellow racers and could not bring myself to spend that much on a battery, went with the autozone top line battery, but still seems that i was always having trouble keeping it up in the later rounds.
Then i checked my charger and found that it was not putting out 100% all the time. replaced the charger and the problem went away. The charger would build up to a certain point then start showing full charge when it really was'nt.
