Re: To All Business Owners
Rick,
You are correct.
My race engine machine work is sliding back & the general repair machine work is picking up. I've been in this for 38 years & have seen this cycle every time the economy dumps. (made some good money when it dumped with Carter in the oval office) You can't charge the general repair business at the same rate as you do the racing. They simply don't have it. They are getting by & if your price is too high they will just go to the next shop in the phone book.(or down the street) I have several race customers scattered across the USA that are in the automotive repair business. They are seeing the same thing. The high end work is dying off or gone. I had a good conversation with Alex the other day & he is seeing it just like I do. I'm sure NHRA sees that the spectator attendance is hurting. Look at the small cut back in the prices they charge to encourage them to attend a race. They are just feeding on the sportsman racer because they think they understand our need to attend races. They are not selling anything I need. I may WANT, but I don't NEED what they provide, esp at these prices. It sure seems like they are preying on the WANTS of everyone. It just shows me what they think of us. We are a cash cow to them. We are just USED. Used as filler. Used as a cash flow mechanisim. (early on line registration & payment) We are used by the grade point system to force us to attend divisional races. I'm sure I could go on and on about their abuse of Sportsman racer, but being on this computer is abusing my work schedule & hurting my cash flow.
