Rob Park appointed to NHRA position
 

I see where Rob Park has been named as the Senior Director of Field Operations with an emphasis on working with the division directors and improving points meets.

From all the interactions I had with him, this could be a very good thing depending on how long his leash is going to be. His family owned a track and he seemed to understand sportman racing really well - most of all he didn't take the Glendora cheerleader stance as so many did - but still owned his own mind to make reasonable decisions.

I never heard anything bad about him coming from racers which I guess doesn't mean a whole lot. But at least from the conversations I've had with him, I'm thinking he's got the right mindset to make needed changes if they will allow him to.

From the press release: In his new role, Park will oversee the daily operations of the seven NHRA Division Directors, using his extensive background to improve divisional events and strengthen relationships with member tracks and stakeholders.

and "I am deeply honored to have the opportunity to continue serving the sport of NHRA drag racing," Park said. "My passion has always been rooted in supporting sportsman racers and member tracks, and I am thrilled that this new position will enable me to collaborate closely with Division Directors, their teams, and the Field Marketing staff. Together, we will work to elevate and enhance the sportsman racing experience, ensuring it remains as thrilling and rewarding as possible for everyone involved."

So that last paragraph was definitely written by a PR person so disregard the "deeply honored", "thrilled" and "remains" but as in my previous post, to me he is someone who I think is indeed interested in the elevate and enhance part.

Having known Rob since he started in D5, he has always been a great guy to deal with! I'm sure he will do a good job in the new position with NHRA! Congrats Rob!!

I see his old position was the Sportsman Racing Mentor. What did he do in that position and who did he mentor? Maybe he can mentor Josh Peterson in his new spot???

Did he and Clair McCaskill have something to do with the Kansas City track?

Not sure about the other name, but his family's track was (is?) in far west/southwest Missouri close to the state line.
