I'm thinking of buying some auto parts from Phil Shoop, Jr., Astoria OR. Found him on Facebook. Can anyone verify that this is a legit person, and not some scammer? If you PM me, please let me know here. I'm not always logged in.

Be Careful Greg = I have had several people try and
run scams on us on Facebook Marketplace!

Always look at their profiles and how long and detailed
it is and number of friends they have on it.

What i do is tell the person who is selling the parts that you have somebody in that area that will come and look at the parts even if you don't. If he gives you the run around then its a scam.

He doesn't have a single Friend on Facebook
which is pretty unusual.

His account doesn't have a single mention or photo of any cars or parts.Im thinking his account has been cloned.

Greg, ask him to take a picture of the part in front of today's newspaper.
I've heard all kinds of excuses on that one. There's a snowstorm and
my paper didn't get delivered, in July!! Dog ran off with it, etc.

Than you everyone for the responses. I first looked through qualifying for Stock and Super Stock at several Division 6 points races to see if I could possibly find a racer from his town who might know him. No luck. Then, I did a Google search for NHRA, Astoria OR. I found the name of a racer who owned a business in that town. Left him a message and he called me back. He doesn't know him, but he has an employee who does, and felt he was someone who could be trusted. Not perfect, but I feel comfortable moving forward with the purchase.
