Moving a Div 5 race to a different division
What?s up with that? Is the cost getting to high? I was told that one of the tracks had to ask for a lot of volunteer's, to help put it on, so they can make money on it. Doesn?t NHRA supply a full crew for this divisional races?
Thanks |
Re: Moving a Div 5 race to a different division
I saw somebody post that full crew costs $30,000. I have no idea if that is correct.
At the recent Division 4 race here is Tulsa I saw members of the local crew working but don't know if they were on the NHRA payroll or not. Local tracks making any money off divisional races has been a problem for a long time except for Norwalk. |
Re: Moving a Div 5 race to a different division
One thing I see is there is no advertising for the divisional races. We need butts in the stands to help the track. Every time attending divisional race the stands are empty, and this holds true for all divisional races against all divisions. Why is that? Some of the best racing is at Divisional Events you still have Alcohol classes never understood it, maybe I have recently hit my head or something.
1. Get with local news stations to the tracks, take a couple of racers to the new stations to help advertise the divisional event. 2. Have more presence thru social media 3. Put together affordable 1 and 2 day ticket packages So what if you drew in 10 to 15K paying people on both days!? |

Re: Moving a Div 5 race to a different division
I don't expect this to be commonplace among other NHRA Divisions, but Division 5 currently has a race track availability catastrophe on their hands.
Bandimere is gone and it is hard to tell when their new endeavor will be up and going, let alone finished and ready for events; with out any kind of divine intervention, Heartland Park has finally been lost forever and SRCA Dragstrip is still in legal limbo due to the botched resurfacing project. Rumor has it that Flying H and NHRA have fallen out of love quickly and there won't be a return of NHRA events for the foreseeable future...therefore resulting in a Division 5/Division 3 hybrid track in WWT Raceway. None of this is ideal, but unfortunately this seems to be what the future large scale drag racing is destined to and NHRA seems to be happy to sit back an watch it unfold without much intervention. I know there are a lot of people that like to tout the strength of drag racing nationally, but aside from a handful of special events, I am failing to see it. |

It is what it is .. This was actually done years ago when D5/D3 shared a National Open in early April at Madison, Illinois

Re: Moving a Div 5 race to a different division
Yes agreed on Div 5 being hit the hardest, why not move a div 5 race to Tulsa or Nobile OK?
NHRA does not care! Quote:

Re: Moving a Div 5 race to a different division
Div 6 Acton Divisonal race see's far more Div 5 racers than Div 6. Tract location and altitude fit better for Divison 5.
Not sure why it's not a permanent Div 5 race? Divison 6 needs a race at Mission BC. Location and track elevation is better for Div 6. Steve Teeter Stk/SS 620 |

Just threw it out there as an alternative didn't say that was the closest track.
