Another West Coast Track with Issues.

It currently has nothing to do with drag racing at the moment but thousands of people in 2023 were supposedly sickened at Sonoma Raceway participating in a Mudder Event 5K/10K human event race it appears and the lawsuits are now working their ways into the court system.

SFGate has the story (allegedly the race humans racing -rolling around in and trudging through waist deep and more through mud made with a non-potable and known to the race promoter bacteria laced water source), according to the article I just read.

Sad, CA has lost enough tracks already over the last 5 decades. And 5 thousand participants (not sitting in the stands watching a race), but rolling in possibly tainted mud can easily be their undoing.

That they did not hold the Mudder event (1 of 40 across across the country annually for the race promoter in 2024 at Sonoma this year), though 1 is scheduled for SoCal soon....tells a story.

Let us hope it is not a sad story in the future for us and Sonoma Raceway.

Thousands after the event were sickened and the local health authorities traced the source back to water used at the track to make the muddy course.

If you want to start a "GO FUND ME" try one for Colorado, we lost our
race track in Morrison CO at the end of 2023 to make way for a COPARTS
facility.

The people you moved in across the fwy complained about the noise,
they are going to be so happy with the noise generated by big fork lifts
moving cars/truck and commercial car haulers in and out day and night.

Read the same thing here in that SFGate news story, but rest assured since the (allegedly tainted water), was supplied by the track, traced back (again allegedly), by the authorities in CA that are the water policing agency stated was (allegedly knowingly tainted in advance, or an un-pottable water source.

They will name both the promoter and the deeper pockets from top to bottom and amount of alleged participants is huge, even with insurance and waivers signed in CA those mean zero if they can prove negligence or neglect damage awards could be astronomical.

There could not have been a worse place (except maybe a certain NY canal area, or South Eastern, TX maybe), in my mind to mix a bad mud soup and invite 5k people to roll around and trudge through it for a few days.

Event venues take huge risks, just really sad that a non-motorsports event is affecting a major motorsports venue, but someone may have made a huge mistake. And the legal battle is just beginning.

Re: Another West Coast Track with Issues.

To be fair (if you go to toughmudder.com. they are the Spartan Race promoters section of the mudder obstacle courses and just look at what they set up as obstacles mix in water/soil in massive amounts of mud and water pits and dyes add barbed wire 14" above or Chain link fencing 6" above and rotating 500 lb blocks among others and lots of cuts, abrasions, and swallowed site water...there is no way to make any of it sanitary in any manner whatsoever. So, they pretty much get what they signed up for, a day (or weekend), as a Spartan. Gonna be dumb, gotta be tough! As the saying goes.

I know people that run in the same race near us, and every year people get sick.
