Fires, not trying to start anything

Technical Bulletin on Lithium Ion and Lithium Polymer Batteries
Recently there have been reports in the news about fires associated with lithium ion and lithium polymer batteries used in consumer products. At an NHRA event this past weekend, The NHRA Technical Department observed a similar type of fire associated with a lithium ion battery used in a racecar application. As a precautionary measure, we would like to remind anyone installing these types of batteries in a vehicle to make sure that nothing can rub through or puncture the battery’s outer covering. Please take into consideration the amount of vibration your racecar may see during typical transportation and racing activities. It is also important to carefully follow the manufacturer’s charging instructions and to take the necessary precautions to avoid short circuits.
Will the Safety people get training on how to deal with them?

All good advice but these batteries have been known to ignite with no issues. The batteries have issues and can ignite just sitting in the garage overnight. People have lost homes lives and possessions because of these batteries. Flash light to rv cars to car batteries are an issue.

I have used GoLithium 16V batteries (2) in my SC dragster for over 4 years no, without incident. These are Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries and are NOT combustible or fire rated.

I also use a Go Lithium battery in my car. I spoke the guy that owns and runs the company. He told me they have never had a battery failure of that type. I have been using the lithium batteries for about 7 years with good success. Just about everything battery operated now has a lithium battery in it. At home we have a battery powered scooter and an e bike that have lithium batteries in them.
I never charge the battery in the race car unattended. There is no need. The lithium battery in my car will fully charge in about 30 minutes.
