Shay Smith passes
 

Longtime IHRA Superstock racer Sherrill (Shay) Smith passed away last Tuesday. I met Shay in 1975 and in 47 years he only raced one car, a red 57 Chevy wagon with white stripes on the roof. Shay purchased the car from Tim Neja in California and flat towed it home to Louisville,Ky. GODSPEED !!!!!!!!!!

Raced for years against "Slim" as Capt Howdy called him. Good, good guy. Really sorry to hear this but sure hope there is drag racing up there.
Years back he broke a tranny. He told me "well guess my season is over" we had him up and going the next weekend after a fix on my gravel driveway. Never, never heard a bad thing out of his mouth about anyone. RIP SLIM.
