Personally don’t think any professional race teams (especially NASCAR) have a viable financial plan beyond 2030. Plus NHRA has an additional problem with major venues as the big tracks keep disappearing. Hope I’m wrong but don’t foresee there being any west coast events in a few years. Recession won’t spare many business models that revolve around Motorsports or even entertainment in general. Sorry to be debbie downer :o

A very good friend of mine who works for a cup team,, said we may see( for those who watch) mufflers on Cup cars at California and Chicago Street course in 2023. I wonder if thats the next thing to come in CA for motorsports?

We already tried mufflers back in the late 90’s I think. I had them on my super-gas car.
It was the opposition by the s/ss racers that I think made it go away. It still might be an unenforced rule out here on the west coast and at other tracks. I didn’t mind it too much the Borla mufflers didn’t have much affect on the et’s and were still loud.

Highly doubt you’ll see profit sharing in our sport. That would mean cuts above 🧐.

Doug, Ca hates Motorsports so nothing would surprise me here. If you want to test on Wednesday at Sonoma you need mufflers. The grapes are sleeping…

Probably all Unleaded for the US motorsports also in the near future.

I only race Nostalgia Stock/Super Stock now, and while it’s certainly not free, it is pretty reasonable. We don’t allow much in the way of electronics, and really want to keep it simple and project the vibe of the ‘60s and ‘70s. The drivers love it, the crowd loves it, and the track operators love it. You know, it seems like racing was more fun when there were no toterhomes and stackers, no $80,000 Stock/SuperStock engines, no programmable electronic gizmos, etc. Maybe it’s me, but checkbook racers kinda screwed it up for the normal guy, and it got out of hand. I’m not begrudging the guys that do it, I just think some of the nostalgia series are becoming more popular because the guys that still have to work on their car and drive it themselves after working all week to support their family don’t have the funding or desire to compete in the NHRA. Our entry fees are lower and our purses are equal to, if not larger than the NHRA shows. I don’t think the prestige of winning a “Wally” is what it used to be.
