Looking for suggestions for front shocks
I have a 68 mustang bracket car stock front end right now I run Calvert shocks on the front. I am looking for something to help control the wheelies in the spring and the fall when the air is good.

Re: Looking for suggestions for front shocks
I had AFCO BNC double adjustable shocks on the front of my Camaro for 3 years. They could not control the landing of the 3 foot wheel stands. My car was bottoming out so bad it was literally knocking the headlights out of it! I sent them back to AFCO 6 different times to try to get the valving right. They never got it right. Then I talked to Mart Reinhart. He explained why this was happening. I bought a set of Santhuff's from Marty Reinhart. Yes they are expensive, but I no longer have the smash landings like before. The car lands like its on a cloud! And I can now control how high the front end comes up on the wheel stands. If I want a 3 foot wheelie, I loosen them to 4 turns. If I want to hit a pro tree, I just tighten them to 1/2 turn and the front end stays on the ground, and I pick up .030 on the tree. I am EXTREMELY happy with these shocks and all the suggestions by Marty. He is aces to deal with. Highly recommend calling Marty for your issue.

Re: Looking for suggestions for front shocks
No question that Santhuffs are great pieces and Randy Manns at Fastshocks is another source for units tailored to your specific application. Your post is a little vague but if you’re just trying to control wheelstand height and tightening your shocks is inducing wheel spin you’d be amazed how a little weight added to the nose will help, starting at 20 pounds to experiment.

Re: Looking for suggestions for front shocks
1. The more I do this, the more significance I see in having a good, properly tuned shock on the car. They can make the difference between a great working car and a miserable turd.
2. As a customer of Marty Rinehart and Fastshocks, both are highly recommended. |
