Re: Time or RPM
Stop racing shift by time.
Bracket racing shift by RPM. |
Re: Time or RPM
I always shift on RPM.
In the case of my SST car; it's slow and heavy. I wouldn't be on the stop long at all if I came off in high gear. In SC, I do have an unconventional setup but it would work well coming off the stop in high. I just can't stand to lose all that MPH. I went 184 in St Louis with just over 1000 hp. I bet most guys going 184 have 1250+. |
Re: Time or RPM
I have to agree with Lenny my slower motors in super Street did not like to be shifted on time until I got over 800hp then it worked fine

Re: Time or RPM
I agree with 57 Vette.
When I run S/G I shift on time. When I Bracket Race I shift on rpm and let it eat! |
Re: Time or RPM
When I ran 10.90 years ago I shifted on time just curious as to what guys are doing now
|
Re: Time or RPM
I shift on time and the new car I'm building will be time as well.

Re: Time or RPM
I enjoyed shifting on RPM back in the day.. kinda thought it gave me a little extra around mid track.. BUT, with horsepower increases, it gave me tire spin coming off the stop, and a lot of inconsistencies down track.. working with the guys from Select Performance, we got the car set up to shift on time, as I now had the power, and haven't looked back since.. if you have the power to shift on time, DO IT!!
