Hey Dan. Sorry I missed your call. Tied up tonight.

I've been out of it for a while. Was the SS always a K car? I thought it was a lower class than that. What did you do to convert it over from Pure Stock?

Ran association races in F/PS that allowed IHRA cars and did well.
Got it into the 12.50’s on a cool low DA day.

The big problem was getting to a hotrod shop to add a Fuel Cell, Roll Bar and upgraded 8.5 rear. Once done got home. Installed Bullet Stocker Cam. Took 2 months to put in, cleaning everything, sort out the tuning.

Raced at Cecil with ECIRS ran a tenth under the index. It was a hot day. Kept Mufflers and air filter hooked up. So that was good.

Got home, More fiddling. Ran NHRA D1 Race at Cecil few weeks later. Cooler day. Uncorked the exhaust, removed air filter, qualified 12.13 108.7. Barely held 2300rpm on launch. Needs a vacuum power brake booster.

Next goal, an 8inch 5200 converter. Have a Yank4400PT 10inch. Until then will focus on driving and reliability.

Were those cars always K stock Dan? I don't remember them being in that class but it's been a long time.

Did the big cam make a difference? I bet the sound of the new one was radically different.

I've been on the Impala SS forum too recently and it's pretty dead over there; not much for sale. Those cars must be losing interest as we all get older.

Clean low mileage cars are catching on.
Most look beat up but great for restoration.

Caprice/SS can run J, K, L, M.
Don Campolito runs a 1996 Impala SS as a J/SA Caprice.
His car has been 11.35 on a very good day.

As for the CAM..
Second quicker than the Bullet Pure Stocker Cam with all the tricks $$$.

PS and Cool days managed a best of 12.47 107, last year did a 12.53 at Cecil mufflers hooked up.
Corbit Marshburn hit a 12.39 on a great day with his F/PS.
