Radio for the trailer
Any recommendations for an am/fm radio that will work in the car trailer?
We get a lot of interference with the portable "cheap kind" of radio when we're at the track. Thanks, Larry |
Re: Radio for the trailer
Make one from an AM/FM car radio, speakers, antenna and 12volt converter......you will love it and takes care of all the problems.

Re: Radio for the trailer
I don't know about Larry and while the car radio sounds like a good solution I am not interested in rounding that stuff up.
The radio in my trailer is not very good and I too would like to replace it. Anybody got any good recommendations? Thanks! Bill |
Re: Radio for the trailer
Anything from C.Crain. I have the Skywave, but I broke the speaker. Still works, though.
https://ccrane.com/am-fm-radios-1/ I'm looking for a scanner type radio to listen 1-way to the tower. Any suggestions beyond Race Electronics? |
Re: Radio for the trailer
check out the offerings from this company on Ebay.
Pretty reasonably priced comes with a antenna and its made in the USA ! https://www.ebay.com/itm/Golf-Cart-U...H/324683811022 I have one on my golf cart and it grabs the the track stations with no problem ,and its self contained . plus it's Bluetooth and has a USB port I plan on putting one in my trailer as well since my current one sucks at most tracks. |
Re: Radio for the trailer
I like Tom’s idea but here is an option. I bought a unit for a boat. It fits in a hole about the size of a cup holder. It’s round and I mounted it in a cabinet door. Takes up very little space. Been working great for years

Re: Radio for the trailer
any car radio from walmart work fine, have one now with bluetooth and paired phone, put 2 speakers above bench and 2 on outside under awning, hooked up power to winch battery

Re: Radio for the trailer
I am using one from Wallmart too ($12.50). I had a good brand name radio in it but it had no provisions for manually setting the frequency and a lot of tracks are not on the microphone much on qualifying days. It was tough to get it to lock on the broadcast. With this cheaper radio I can set the frequency easily. Have it hooked up to 2 speakers in the trailer with the antenna mounted on the tongue. Works great.

Re: Radio for the trailer
For the past ten years or so I mount an under cabinet kitchen radio w/cd in our trailers they usually have a light built in to the bottom which helps on the work bench portion as well just my $.02
