National event tree
 

I have not ran at a NHRA National event or divisional racefor a few years now, but watching the Hemi Shootout at Indy, confused with the stage lights on the Christmas Tree. I seem to recall it was 8-10 years ago when I first encountered the change from 4 small amber Pre Stage/Stage bulbs, to the split blue bulbs, but when did NHRA change to the flashing stage lights? Looks rather distracting, I imagine night races would be confusing. Are all the NHRA races using this style of stage lights now, and when did this start? Do they use this at Divisional races as well, or is it an individual track choice ?

It may appear that way on video, but there is no flashing.

Most tracks use the old yellow stage bulbs, but there are some that use the blue/white style at a divisional. Bandimere had the new style, and the Brainerd divisional used them but only because the event was run in conjunction with the national.

LED lighting and the refresh rate on your monitor are so far apart it appears to flash but I assure you they are steady and consistent.

Correct. It is just how it shows up on the video. Certainly has to do with the frequency/refresh rate of the video.

Ok, good to know that it was just how it appeared on my computer. Strangely enough, when I watch the Hemi class final, the staging lights did not appear to be flashing on my computer.

There are two things going on. One is the refresh rate of your monitor which is fixed, and the other is the frame rate it is receiving from the broadcast. Sometimes the broadcast rate is slow and the screen flicker is severe and other times the network is using it's A Game equipment and it's fast. Finals on network air time would be ultra HD in the feed and flicker free to your display. Some of the Sportsman coverage from early in the week was butt ugly.
