Did 427 Fairlanes run a single-4bbl + glass hood in NHRA leg

Tough one to find info on:
I'm trying to figure out what combo of 67 Fairlane 427 ran in 1967's SS/C=7.70 lb/hp or 1968's SS/D=7.70 lb/hp. Don McCain & Donnie Brewer each ran cars in this class & set NHRA records in SS/C 1967 and SS/D 1968 (Same class, different letters). There's a picture of McCain's car here 1967 Ford Fairlane 66-67 427 Fairlanes picture | SuperMotors.net Note it shows SS/C on the door paint which I'm guessing is from 1967, and SS/D scribbled for the meet which says "WINTERNATIONALS" so I assume 1968. Glass hood - those glass hood 8v Fairlanes usually ran a higher class, SS/B=7.00 in 67, SS/C=7.00 in 68. Schorr's Total Performance book pg142 says McCain's car was a 4v, consistent with what I'm guessing. Trouble is: 1. I didnt know the 4bbl + glass hood combo was legal back then. 2 The glass hood + 4bbl is NOT listed in the 1968-70 NHRA guide - the only legal combos are: 4v flat hood 8v flat hood 8v glass hood The combo seems to disappear after early 1968 which is consistent with what the 1968-70 NHRA sheet says. I wondered if any of you know what combo McCain or Brewer ran back in 1967 and early 1968. |

RJ Sledge ran a 427 Fairlane for years.
I think RJ won Indy with one of those 427 combinations. He has a several interesting Tech stories about them. The NHRA Tech you need to ask that Question to is Travis Miller. He has compiled a lot of information on what was done and not done by Ford on the Fairlanes, |
