Towing with Gulf Stream Super C with 300HP Navistar
 

Anyone have any experience towing about 10k lbs with one of these?

Want to make sure I can go faster than 16mph up the hill to Numidia.

I'm sure it will have plenty of power, but I would be leery of the reliability. I am a shop manager here in PA for a large AZ-based trucking company. Approximately 85% of my fleet here is Navistar units (with Cummins engines). The company will not under any circumstance purchase a Navistar with a Navistar engine.

Steve Stasko is 100 percent accurate. The Navistar engine family was a complete and total failure. Before Navistar finally yielded to pressure from unhappy dealers and FURIOUS customer fleets and individual owners, they had thousands of dead trucks scattered all across the country, and for the longest time, the failed EGR coolers on those trucks were replaced with service parts that simply failed again. It was a nightmare.

It should have enough power as long as it don't quit on the way up.

Definitely I work at a Navistar dealership and if it doesn’t have a Cummins and has a Maxxforce in it I’d walk away. The base engine really isn’t that bad but they have major reliability issues when it comes to the emissions systems. After the 466 their mid range engines haven’t been the best.
