God Speed Harold Bettes
Harold Bettes aka Dissident on this forum has passed. Truly a smart man with a passion for seeking and finding ways to move the goal posts in a positive direction. His greatest help to me was the question he would ask to make me think of problems in a different light. He was the forum moderator for years of the AETC, a M/E that worked with SuperFlow, author, and possessed a great sense of humor. He will be missed.

Re: God Speed Harold Bettes
What a shame, from what I knew of him Larry's description was right on.
My only real interaction was at a AETC conference many years ago but he seemed like a really good guy. RIP Mr. Bettes. |
Re: God Speed Harold Bettes
I'm sorry to hear he passed away. back in 1999. I went to a class he conducted in wilsonville, ore. It was great, he had a lot of experience n explained every thing so you could understand it better. He answered my e-mails, when I needed answers about air flow. i bought a flow bench, afterwards. lol. best move ever. thank you Mr. bettes, RIP.

Sorry to hear this.
He was a very interesting man, who I had the pleasure to meet a few years ago in Colorado Springs . He did a great job modifying and restoring carburetors too. RIP, my friend |
Re: God Speed Harold Bettes
Godspeed Mr. Bettes. I purchased my flow bench from him many years ago and for several months afterward he would periodically call to offer advice. Extremely intelligent individual and freely volunteered his knowledge and experience. RIP my friend.

Rest in peace, Harold. You were truly a creative and imaginative mind. Too bad you did not complete the Monza project. I will miss our late night conversations.

I had lost touch with Harold some years ago and then reconnected with him when I started posting here.
Rest in peace, Harold. Stan |
Re: God Speed Harold Bettes
Godspeed Harold!
My prayers and condolences to the Bettes' family. When I worked at the racing engine shop, my former boss shared lots of great stories of Harold when he worked for him at SuperFlow and later when my boss managed the engine shops for Yates and Penske, Harold also assisted him during his NASCAR days. Also honored to have been given the opportunity to collaborate in one of his airflow seminars in 2014. |
