Using blinders.
When I try to use the blinder set up I have I see the 2nd bulb inadvertently sometimes which throws me off. I sit pretty low in my car. Is there a certain set up that works better? Does Length of blinder make a difference? Do I keep both eyes open or close one eye and really focus hard through one eye. I really try hard not to move my head but the SLIGHTEST head movement makes me see the second bulb as tree comes down. Any advice from you guys? Thanks in advance. (Stocker lt1 camaro )

Re: Using blinders.
I am not able to use a blinder in my car but I wanted to say that I have used looking through one eye only to slow myself down so unless you need to kill some reaction I would use both eyes.

Re: Using blinders.
It takes a bit of seat time to get used to the blinder. You have to cover everything but the bottom yellow. Takes a lot of concentration. Unless you have a stocker that leaves hard you might not be able to hit the tree as fast as you would like. I use the bottom of the roll bar as my blinder. Just tilt my head up a bit to blind the bulbs. One other thing if you wear glasses and have bifocal or progressive lenses you might want to get a pair of single vision glasses to race with. you don't want to be looking at the tree through the reading part of the lens.

Surprisingly Jim or others haven’t posted this yet, top notch stuff...

Re: Using blinders.
What do you guys do for night races and blinders? I hear a lot of people complain about light bleeding through.
I`ve never used a blinder with a lot of night racing, so just curious. |

Re: Using blinders.
Pacific Raceway runs due West and usually takes a break around sunset. I made a "blinder" in case I got caught anyway. It's just a yellow plastic sunshade hinged to my roll cage with velcro strips on it and a separate rectangle of double black painted plastic to stick to it. If I need I can stop short of staging, flip it down and position the black panel to block the sun. With some trimming it would work for the lights, too.
