Mason Dixon Dragway Stock/Super Stock Meet
At ATCO was asked about Mason Dixon Stock/Super Stock Race
Was it scheduled or not? YES it has been scheduled and confirming it. Race is for Saturday and Sunday October 31 and November 1st. $2000 to Win each day. Use to be dedicated to Lee Sherman. Cannot remember which Lee Sherman. Lee who drove the 66 P/SA Impala or Lee the ProStock Racer. |
Re: Mason Dixon Dragway Stock/Super Stock Meet
Lee was a longtime Division One Stock racer - in my humble opinion this race should be rededicated to him .

It was dedicated to Lee Sherman, 1965 Impala and 69 Camaro racer. I don't know of any S/S racers named Lee Sherman. Do you? C'mon ,Man |

I knew and raced with Lee Sherman from 1976-1978 Also Kenny Koonce, Eddie and Leon Miranian when they lived in the Kensington MD area. They were all very helpful racers. D |

Re: Mason Dixon Dragway Stock/Super Stock Meet
Well it appears that, at least lately, no good deed goes unpunished.
Thank you for sharing the information, Dan! During better times this was always the last "big" race of the year for us and the weather always kept you guessing - one year t-shirts/shorts and the next thermal underwear! This was also the race sponsored by the Tri-State Stock/Super Stock Assn. that Mike Carr organized for many years, a family affair. The answer to the question "What if we had a party and a drag race broke out!" |
Re: Mason Dixon Dragway Stock/Super Stock Meet
With the track running the event and allowing illegal nostalgia and real super stock cars in the race last year (98% didn’t even know what class the car fit and for the ones who claimed a real SS combo-I had one parked beside me and it should have had Carter carbs (2) but had a dominator (1) instead, not to mention the shoe polish on the windows since they’ve never entered anything but a et bracket event) running combos that were not even engines that were built before or during the year of the car, not to mention the stroker combos of the weekly ET bracket cars that were being used but the owner let them buy a tech card, and nobody opened a hood and checked them BUT since they race the track and are regulars they were allowed to race with the real s/ss guys, I’d expect 80% of the REAL cars in attendance from last year. Next year maybe 40% and when Elmer realizes hes losing his *** on the event it’ll be gone. I’ll go to ATCO for Dave Leys race that’s the same weekend where the s/ss guys are treated with integrity and respect plus he knows what is right and what isn’t. IE=LEGAL. Kinda reminds me of the ones who claim pure stock that were never pure stockers. Yet try to get NHRA to allow the class and complain because NHRA won’t. 😂 wait wait hold up. I’ll just put a delay box in my car and dare them to say something. Cause that’ll put a end to it this year and Elmer won’t have to lost his *** 2 years in a row.
