“…there’s the Super Stock rumor that says this once popular bracket has shrunk in popularity and spectator appeal so much in the face of Pro Stock performances and appeal that it won’t be around much longer.”

the world changes all the time. businesses adapt. what i do see is nhra not adapting. think about it, what has been new about the sport in the last 30 years. top sportsman/dragster and factory stock.
if nhra tax returns are correct and they are just breaking even in this economy, i hate to see what happens in a down turn.
It looks like the suits make $5 million a year total.
even if they all do not get paid nhra will not survive.
i think total revenu around 2005 was $140 mil. i believe that is now around $100 mill.
sponsors have cut in all motorsports, and if fan attendance goes down, what will happen?
if you check out other auto related activities, nhra is getting no revenue from these. roll start races at local dragstrips has become popular. big dollar bracket races. ducks outlaw street car races. drag week. pdra, soutwest promod series. cars and coffee shows.

How much revenue are they "giving away" with quota system? X (times) 24 races. It could be only one more round of racing to fit in. Maybe I just don't get it (understand the numbers)!

NHRA is a not-for-profit! It HAS to "break even" every year!

Not true. “Non-profit” is a generic term. NHRA is a tax-exempt organization, allowed to make and keep profits.

Sorry Julie. Maybe someday you will correct me on that and it will sink in.
