Maple Grove sale news

This was on a Maple Grove Facebook page this morning . Looks like some encouraging news for one of our tracks for a change .

https://thecapitalsportsreport.com/2...HDZzbedgcRFdWU

It looks like these guys are legit racers ,all connected to the National Motor Sports Association North East . Explains the comment about a possible road course.

Racing with bangers and mash, and room temp pints of ale for lunch.

Seriously though, very good news about the grove. Would have been horrible to lose another first class facility in the east.

Was written by a non member of the automotive press. It refers to a tower similar to the one at Englishtown. One of the principals had connections to RP.Also ,all cars must now be right hand steering lol.

Oval, but they turn right and run clockwise.

One important note, this new group is trying to generate more income for the township, as stated in the Competition Plus article. Never thought this to be a consideration for a sale of an existing property with an existing business. From what info I was given about the tax records, all amounts due were paid in a timely manner while the "Grove" was in former hands. In modern times, a drag strip, at least in the northern state, isn't generating any income during the cold weather. A dirt course might extend the money making. In general, this is sounding like the typical scenario when a track is sold and sold and redeveloped into homes. Many developments require a catch basin for rain water from the runoff of the new development. How about a new track or a street legal road service where the townships can charge a tax for a performance car and monthly subscription for use of the road surface. The bomb is ticking and the little guy is losing again.

One of the new owners of MG runs the road course at Englishtown. MG is probably on its way to becoming a new motorsport complex.

There is plenty of land in the area that is available for development and has better access than the site of Maple Grove. This is not a typical scenario.

As for the track generating more income for the township, they are probably talking about entertainment tax revenue that is added to the cost of every ticket. The more events they can have, the more tickets they will sell and the more entertainment taxes generated for the town.

The new owners know that talking about increasing activity and building new tracks on the ground will frighten some residents and possibly the town. I see them trying to start off on the right foot with the township be talking right away about benefitting the township and residents.

What about snowmobile drags in the winter with snow makers? Could be interesting

Yes they are. One of the new owners was at the Div 1 banquet this past weekend. There are many changes planned, luckily for us they want to keep drag racing. Hopefully they get the support ($$$) they need to keep the en devour going otherwise it will be E-Town Version 2. Already lost the premier drag racing facility in the North East, don't need to lose the second one in a few years.
