The Finals Are Over

During sportsman eliminations on Saturday, after each run, they (whomever “they” are) chose to display the entire time slip; if you will; on the big screen.

John - The live timing screen is something that my viewers absolutely insist on seeing. It's not "secret" data anymore with the advent of the live stream, NHRA Live Timing, DragRaceCentral.com and so forth. I'm actually very happy that is is now part of the Sunoco Vision presentation because I think it helps engage the spectator and help demonstrate the close nature of the sport. Stick-and-ball sports are driven by stats and numbers and that information engages a whole new group of followers (i.e. the "fantasy" fan). NHRA would do well to figure out a way to engage these stat geeks and tap into that interest.

I have explored a couple of ideas related to a finish line camera but have not figured out anything that was not cost prohibitive for me to do.

Warren, you should seek assistance and get subsidies from NHRA Marketing Dept. After all this is an entertainment sport that is attracting an audience. Who knows, maybe in the interest of safety a finish line camera can expose any infractions in determining a winner.

Ron Ortiz
U/SA that was close.

Warren, I do appreciate what you do and know how hard it is to accomplish.Thank you. But as far as the stats are concerned, it doesn't mean I have to like it, even though I too have to rely on those stats for what I do. Ugh!

I really wish the Live Timing data were made available somewhere as a dataset. I've manually compiled some data by copying and pasting from Live Timing screens, but it's pretty labor intensive to keep it clean.

Re: The Finals Are Over

I preferred the earlier screen that showed MOV and who got there first and by how much....like what is used at all the Division races....like D3 TV I think it was

The layout on the NHRA TV screen is not as informative

It also does not show any driver/car info...…the same info that is probably on the announcers screen.....

No matter what, having some races to see live is great and very much appreciated and enjoyed....
