A long time ago someone posted a weg site you could go to that would tell you how many inches of stripe you took,all you had to do was punch in all your numbers from your run,anyone here have that web site,THANKS Monte Howard

There used to be one called FINAL-DECISION.COM but I haven't been able to get on it for a long time.

Roughly, .001 at 110-115 mph is 1.9 inches. 2" per thou gets you fairly close. I think is was about 2.5" at 140 mph, just offhand.

If you can't find the website this is the formula I use:
Multiply the mph of the second car to pass the finish line by 63,360 (inches per mile) then divide it by 3,600,000 (thousandths per hour). You are travelling 1.76" per .001 at 100mph. 100 x 63,360 = 6,336,000 divided by 3,600,000 = 1.76 This is based on a constant speed for the last 66' thus dumping/braking probably throws the formula a little out of whack. Irregardless it's probably pretty accurate and I don't know any other way to figure it. Anybody else got any better formulas? |
