Ford Showdown engine
A question I have I don't understand. The 2016 302 Cobra Jet Factory showdown engine is NHRA rated at 600 HP. The 2019 327 Factory showdown engine {same long block specs} but with a bigger Supercharger and the same pulley size is NHRA rated at 595 HP. Any ideas how they came up with that?????

Lane, not sure where you got the info on the 2016 CJs, but they are NHRA rated at 565 and 575 for the 5.0L shootout engines with the 2.9 whipple. It was posted on nhraracer.com yesterday. Wonder why the 315 / 3 L. is not included for the 2019 CJ ?

Re: Ford Showdown engine
You are correct in that the 2016 575HP engine is factored to 600 in stock eliminator, but show down engines are not affected by the AHFS adjustments. My guess is that after a few of the 327's start running, the factored HP will go up pretty quick!

Re: Ford Showdown engine
You’re comparing the 2016 engine that has been hit by the AHFS to an engine that was just released a few days ago that hasn’t ran in competition yet. It too will get hit once it starts competing in stock/SuperStock and runs the number to trigger the factoring to take place.
Like others stated the 16 was originally 565/575hp. Depending on stock/SS/Stick/auto. Same engine has different ratings because of the AHFS. The highest being the auto, Stock eliminator combination. The same engine with a stick has not been hit yet so it’s still at the original rating of 565/575 |
