Question for Len Imbrogno
What other changes for stock in 2008, 2009? cc. number for intake and exhaust ports? If Nhra wants to combine classes why not let the racer`s vote, yes or no like with the 2 steps poll.

Re: Question for Len Imbrogno
I have one for Len too. What about the 100lbs weight break for powerglide cars I've heard about? With the F.I. cars in the mix now the glide car stand NO chance ....& even with the weight break they'll still get beat heads-up....but every little bit helps. ( I was ask this @ the indy div. race by a tec guy)

Re: Question for Len Imbrogno
len, we tried the f/i cars with the carburated cars to start with and it did,nt work, what makes nhra think it will work now!!!!!!!! most of those car,s are much more aerodynamic any way, hell i remember getting embaraced by them back in the beginning, enough that,s why we built a lower class car to get away from the heads-up g-f/sa run,s,, in hind-sight that looke,s like a $25,OOO. MISTAKE NOW!!!!! Again it,s nice to have you to at least listen to our side and opinoin which is exactly what this is...... thank,s dennis dunlap j/sa ssgt/ma

Re: Question for Len Imbrogno
Tom,
Sorry I missed your question. From what I understand, the tech department is working on the issue of cylinder heads and there will be something coming for late 2008 for 2009 regarding runner CC's. I know it was discussed by the S/SS committee. Greg, I do not believe the powerglide weight break was approved. |
Re: Question for Len Imbrogno
HAS NHRA LOST THEIR MIND!!!!!
Let's see, A racer builds a combo that comes with a PG and now wants a horsepower break because the racer chose a combo with a 2 speed trans??????????????????????? How about the pick-up trucks that run in stock have the aerodynamics of a brick and they want to be able to chop the top 8", lay back the windshield and put a Super Bird front end on??????????? If you want to know what the slippery slope is, here it is??????????????? NHRA, WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS???????????????? What would "The Farmer" say or any body else that's been around longer then it takes for a cup of coffee and a sandwich???????????? When will all of this self serving crap stop??????????????? |
Re: Question for Len Imbrogno
Bob, I don't get this line of thinking either "Why do you need HP OFF" because you chose a bad combo? And if it's so bad why don't you write NHRA and ask for HP off because your combo is overfactored. The truth is you can't run fast but others with the same combo can and NHRA says you don't deserve a HP Reduction, Now you want to blame the trans. If it was really an issue that the trans holds these cars back it would show up and you would get a reduction in HP, The stick cars are faster in the lower classes but around K the auto's are faster just look at Nitro Joe's stats.

Re: Question for Len Imbrogno
How about the guys that run a combo that has only a 3speed trans, they want a 4 speed and the 4 speed guys may want a 5 speed. Give me a break.....................
The sooner NHRA sinks this ship the better for them, because there will be more left of the 100 million dollars ($100,000,000) to divide up. |
Re: Question for Len Imbrogno
Let us decide what a "Bad Combo" is. As Bob says, car aerodynamics, and factory design is what it is, that is your decision.
HOWEVER! If your combo was a regular decent combo, but has been totally enhanced by an NHRA screw up that is something very different. If you got 10-40 cc's extra when the Super Stock Fairy was handing out CC's you can hardly call this the same issue. It is like calling Pamela Anderson the average female, if so what do we call Rosie? Lynn |
Re: Question for Len Imbrogno
