This is the same list I just commented on, which was listed as 1968 Indy.

Howard Maseles won C/S, with a 12.22.

Don't know what year this was.

Yes it's Indy 1968, title is a year off.

Normally B/S=8.50 class was reserved for an L72 Biscuit car, but this time Glidden's 65 Ford 427/425 running UNFACTORED took the honors.
The big Ford disappeared right after that so I wonder if the engine got factored. In SuperStock, that engine in the Fairlanes was factored from 450-472hp depending on flat or glass hood.

MOST 65 Galaxies came with the 427 LoRiser under the hood, an engine that was never factored, like the early Mopar 426 MaxWedge or Pontiac 421SD. But a few late 65 Gals had the 427 MediumRiser under the hood, which was about 30hp stronger, but no distinction was made by NHRA at least for a while, giving the 65 Gal quite an edge.

I dont know for a fact that they were factored up after Glidden's 68 Indy win but maybe that triggered it. Teardown would've revealed eg 2.19 and 1.73 valves in the 427 Medium Riser instead of 2.09 and 1.66 valves in the Low Riser, etc.

Even today, the NHRA 1965 Ford Blueprint file looks confused.
It lists the larger 2.19 and 1.73 valves of the 1965-67 427 Medium Riser (factored to 450-472 HP in the Fairlane) but then it lists cylinder head castings from the 1963-65 427 Low Riser, unfactored at 425hp. Those parts wont even fit together. Imagine the confusion about Glidden's car back in 1968 Indy, unless somebody who really knew Fords was looking at it.

Glidden was DQ’d.

RP - Great find I hadn't seen that long DQ list.

Will have to work thru that.
I wonder if the Glidden intake was a Medium Riser intake NHRA didnt think was legal even though it was production, since the NHRA Blueprint files are wrong to this day.

But so many others DQ. Will have to update my summary!
